World-Herald editorial: Officer's death a ‘somber day for the city’

There’s a great deal Omahans do not yet know about what happened near Read Street and Martin Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

But we do know this: Police Officer Kerrie Orozco was shot and killed.

She became the 25th Omaha Police Department officer to be killed in the line of duty. She is the first woman officer to fall.

That her death came in the line of duty does not make this tragedy any easier to comprehend. Hopefully, the knowledge that she died doing an important job that she loved may someday ease the pain for her husband, children, other family members, friends and fellow officers.

FULL story at link.

And one day, hopefully, it will help her family and friends, including you.

I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this with us.
