'The Supreme Court turns down new cases at the rate of 150 a week, and only rarely does one of those denials break through the fog to become news. It happened this week with the court’s refusal to hear an appeal challenging a Chicago suburb’s ban on the sale and ownership of assault weapons. Over the dissenting votes of Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia, the court let stand a lower court’s ruling that the ban, adopted in 2013 by the city of Highland Park, was consistent with the right to gun ownership under the Second Amendment, as interpreted by the Supreme Court.'>>>
