(17,301 posts)OK technically it was on behalf of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, that a "Motion of The United States To Set Aside The Verdict And Dismiss The Indictment With Prejudice" was submitted. Federal judge Sullivan was real fast at signing the order, and since it occurred prior to sentencing it had the effect of vacating Stevens's conviction. But I seriously doubt that Holder was doing something Obama didn't want him to do.
And yet it did not bother either Holder or Obama that over 100 charges against Siegelman were thrown out by three different judges. Further, there was a conflict of interest in the prosecution against Siegelman, since the investigating U.S. Attorney was married to his political opponent's campaign manager. Not to mention that the sentence is unprecedented and the punishment excessive when compared to other RepubliCON Gov found guilty who ONLY received probation, not jail time.
Were Obama and Holder trying to prove their love of all corporate money uses (as in bribery in the case of Stevens) and RepubliCON like tendencies? Or were they trying to prove to those angry liberals who dared vote them in that they were their own person and weren't going to do what the people and the liberals wanted? Whatever the reason, it seems Obama and Holder like convicted RepubliCON felons more than politically convicted Democrat.
