Misogyny Rules The 2016 Election Is the left worse than the right?
Hard to excerpt just four paragraphs. You really need to read the whole piece. She places recent events in the historical context of leftist activism.

Senate Minority Whip Harry Reid (D-NV) requested an apology from Sanders. None was forthcoming. Although Sanders had previously said months ago there was no place for such behavior in his campaign, rather than call it out Sanders took aim at the Democratic Party in his speech at a California rally on May 17, right after he won the Oregon primary and Clinton won Kentucky.
The violence in Las Vegas, where chairs and punches were thrown by Sanders supporters and photos of a Hillary delegate face-down and unconscious on the floor were widely disseminated on social media, followed incidents the week before in California where black and Latina Hillary supporters were harassed and shoved by white male Sanders supporters protesting a rally for Clinton. After that event Sanders told reporters that his supporters were exercising free speech, but he would not approve of interrupting an actual speech by a candidate. . . .
Newsweek politics reporter Kurt Eichenwald summed it up succinctly in his column on May 18 when he wrote, "Violence. Death threats. Vile, misogynistic names screamed at women. Rage. Hatred. Menacing, anonymous phone calls to homes and offices. Public officials [all women] whisked offstage by security agents frightened of the growing mob. None of this has any place in a political campaign. And the candidate who has been tolerating this obscene behavior among his supporters is showing himself to be unfit for office. So, Senator Sanders, either get control of what is becoming your increasingly unhinged cult or get out of the race."
Eichenwald never mentions misogyny, but that's what this is.
Men fear women taking over. Men fear women being more accomplished than they are.
So many years have passed since I was that 16 year old Communist. But so little has changed for women. Maybe Hillary Clinton will get the chance to change all that. But until then, we are all stillRight or Leftmetaphorically making coffee and baking cookies and waiting for our turn to speak and be heard.

I suspect we ain't seen nothin' yet.
I will be surprised if we do not see an uptick in domestic violence. We are already seeing an uptick in internet stalking and threatening of feminist posters. Right here on DU.
Sick people out there.

(53,066 posts)How are they proven lies?
Additionally, the excerpt I used was from quite far in the article, so obviously you didn't read it. But don't let that stop you from declaring it a lie. Clearly the only acceptable speech is that that proclaims Bernie and his supporters the source of absolute truth and everyone else on planet earth a liar.

(53,066 posts)Yet I don't believe I've ever seen you discuss a single issue or policy position. It's clear you have a great deal of resentment toward the constituencies that make up the Democratic Party base, but there is nothing leftist about that. That you denounce an article on gender written by a socialist in a Lesbian magazine as "turd way" suggests a rather bizarre conception of what constitutes left and right.

(36,392 posts)It's sort of like if I started with the premise that Hillary killed Vince Foster, then came to the conclusion that all of the criticism of Sanders is based on anti semitism. I don't remember Obama in 2008 continually whining about all of his critics being racists. I don't think Newsweak junped on that misdirection either. We're in new territory here
BainsBane
(53,066 posts)but you aren't the sole source of truth on planet earth. You've made abundantly clear, even long before the primary, where you stood on issues related to sexism.
When men insult women with misogynist slurs, as they did to Barbara Boxer and the chair of the Nevada Democratic Party, and just about every Clinton supporter who ventures onto social media, they make their meaning crystal clear. Whether you acknowledge that reality is your problem, and you really needn't feel compelled to share your insight with me.

It's 3 minutes of my life I'm never getting back...and I say that as someone that thinks reading just about anything has merit.
There are 10,000,000 reasons to despise and hate Hillary Clinton if you're a progressive...not one of which would be less true if she were a he named Harry Clinton. It has nothing do with her gender and everything to do with her being a despicable conservative waste of Democratic support.

(53,066 posts)and given that you thought the point of the article was to vote for Clinton because she's a women, you made clear you didn't even follow the author's point.
Chan790
(20,176 posts)I made no such mistake as to the point of the article...I said that the reasons to hate Clinton are legion and none of them have anything to do with misogyny...but that the author is so delusional that she (and those who think like her) would see misogyny everywhere and is twisting facts to fit her worldview. I said nothing, nor read anything into this article, about voting for Clinton.
So, you're proving my point.
Now you're going on hide because frankly you contribute nothing of value to my DU experience and after years of reading your paranoid tripe where you also see misogyny everywhere, it will bring me joy to pretend you've been banned. Your delusions do more to harm the equality and progress of women than even the worst MRA here on DU.
BainsBane
(53,066 posts)Or even that they should support her. It chronicles sexism and misogyny among the left dating back to the 1960s and discusses its prominence in this election.
As for this:
Now you're going on hide because frankly you contribute nothing of value to my DU experience and after years of reading your paranoid tripe where you also see misogyny everywhere, it will bring me joy to pretend you've been banned. Your delusions do more to harm the equality and progress of women than even the worst MRA here on DU.
It's for the best. I can see you're very disturbed by speech that doesn't affirm your preexisting beliefs and feel entirely unprepared to respond based on content. You should definitely hide from me and most of the world that imagine that our speech has some function other than "contributing to your experience."
I find is interesting that people who insist insulting women with slurs like "c...t," "w....e," and "b....h," or talking about why they deserve to be raped, isn't misogynist but insist the mere reference to "white" or "bros" is unacceptable bigotry. The purpose of such shifting justifications should be obvious to anyone not firmly committed to maintaining inequality.

(2,096 posts)Some Clinton supporters are just bound and determined to alienate every Sanders supporter here. Good thing you don't need Sanders supporters to win the GE. Oh wait...According to NBC the swing voters in the GE will be SANDERS SUPPORTERS if Hillary wins the nomination. Ooops.

(53,066 posts)Women just don't know how to stay in their place when told. Imagine thinking they have a right to point out concerns about bigotry in the context of "leftist" social movements and a Democratic Party election. I mean, if a Sanders supporter somewhere across the country uses misogynistic slurs or threatens sexual violence, we have no right to object because for some reason other Sanders supporters have decided they are all a collective whole, and that even the most egregious behavior must not be condemned because merely supporting one candidate makes them inherently superior to the rest of society.
Yeah, and that is precisely the problem. You want to support Trump, that's your business. I am not going to enforce censorship about injustice and misogyny because you see any denunciation of it as an attack on you. Anyone who even considers allowing Donald Trump to be president is so far removed from anything I or the Democratic Party values that I couldn't possibly convince them of anything. Their values and concerns are for them to resolve.
That you find a discussion of the events chronicled in the article more offensive than their occurrence is truly unfortunate, but that again is a reflection of what you value. I won't abandon my own core beliefs in equality and social justice because some Sanders supporters find those concerns objectionable. I am sure some will vote for Trump--or otherwise contribute to a Trump victory-- because he reflects their contempt for the non-white male majority, but I think most are decent people who actually care about issues like healthcare, social security, campaign finance, and the environment.
Wow. You got all of that out of my comment below? Did you use a special secret decoder ring to reveal the sexist, Trump loving cypher hidden in my comment? As a woman I just can't understand how all that ugliness ended up hidden in my simple little comment.
Oh, by the way I noticed that you forgot to include one of these with your comment to me. Feel free to use it on your next post.

(8,596 posts)The author claims that Bernie focuses on Hillary's speaking fees not because she is taking the money from wall street, who has nearly destroyed America with their greed, but because, well, misogyny. Her other erroneous assumptions and false claims were just more of the same. What tripe, and a complete waste of my time. I'm 57. I have seen and experienced real, actual sexual harassment, and real, actual misogyny. We will never overcome either by claiming it to be where it is not.
