Austrian Election Could Produce First EU Far-Right Head Of State

Austria could elect the European Union's first far-right head of state on Sunday, with support for Freedom Party candidate Norbert Hofer buoyed by a migration crisis that has heightened fears about employment and security.

Opinion polls suggest the presidential race between Hofer and former Greens leader Alexander van der Bellen will be close-run. A far-right victory would resonate throughout the 28-member bloc where migration driven by conflict and poverty in the Middle East and elsewhere has become a major political issue.

The first polling stations opened early on Sunday. A projection will be published when the last close at 5 p.m. (1000 EDT), and the result is due to be announced after 7 p.m.

Austria took in 90,000 asylum seekers last year, more than 1 percent of its population, many of them shortly after it and neighboring Germany threw open their borders last autumn to a wave of migrants including refugees from Syria's civil war.

The government has since clamped down on immigration and asylum, but that about-face only fueled support for the far right, which was already capitalizing on widespread frustration with the country's two traditional parties of government.

The flood of Middle Eastern refugees will definitely scare people into voting for far right lunatics who promise crackdowns and vow to preserve order. It sucks but it happens more often than not.

Eventually, either people will realize the new folks coming in are good people who want to work, pay their taxes, keep their houses tidy, and generally not bother anyone else and the lunatics will be voted out because they manage to piss everybody off.

However, a temporary turn to the hard right is probably going to happen in more than one country.

Iraq had a refugee problem after we made that a failed state.
After destroying their infrastructures.

Jordan

Iraqis in Jordan are estimated to number between 200.000 and comprise approximately 4-5 per cent of the total population which puts a stress on their system
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqis_in_Jordan

Syria

the number of displaced Iraqis in Syria remains well over 1,000,000 in 2010

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqis_in_Syria

Boy talk about a refugee problem already!

IRAQI REFUGEES IN JORDAN, LEBANON & SYRIA

So much for the Iraq war now to the new crisis created

Now we created two more clusterfucks one in Libya and the other one in Syria. .. These regime changes or attempted regime changes couldn't happen without western help and arms.

So now we have even more refugees fleeing this chaos

Now what did they think would happen especially since they have easier access to Europe? Where did they expect them to go? They had to know that the consequences of war would create even more people fleeing. The consequences is also weakening left wing governments of Europe and moving them to the right. They had to know this would be an outcome. any useful idiot should be able to see that.

Let me tell you the DOD plans and policies honchos look at long term soco/political implications in plans and policies and also rightwing US think tanks.

This isn't a conspiracy theory but observational truth for anyone following history going back to the Goths, Visigoths, and other European tribes seeking sanctuary within the protection of the Roman empire. Boy that turned out well but the Romans at least didn't create the chaos these people were fleeing from.

Why weaken Europe? Well it depends on who you want to weaken or strengthen in Europe.

NATO seems to be a winner in this as are the right wing parties.
Who else benefits? Well my list can go on.

This is not an oops....... didn't see that coming scenario.

that if problems occur, they will solve themselves, cause most of the hell on earth that too many people live in.

It would help if we stopped electing people for their confidence and optimism and started to elect them for their brains.

They have fricking $uper computers beyond Big Blue that can see what results could be under each scenario.

They know damn well what's possible and probable. They just want the public to think its an 'oh we didn't see that coming answer they want to spoon feed us, when we know damn well where the arms and money came from.

Chaos, fear, hate and the shock doctrine are used to control public consciousness and mold public opinion to their nefarious will

Reich Marshal Goering knew this ........ but you know that quote.

This goes beyond politicians who are just a front for the hidden cabal calling the shots. We know they exist some call them the .001%

They don't care about humanity just power and control. But I swear they also feed on this suffering like cosmic vampires. They don't have to pay the bill either the meal they digest.

Meanwhile the earth suffers.

or that the supremely overconfident, magical thinking people would believe the results should they be offered.

All the PNAC could see was a river of oil they'd control and get rich from. The fact that millions of people were in the way didn't concern them one bit, something the rest of us will be paying for long term. People in the DOS tried to tell them what it clusterfuck it would become. They weren't believed, either, and were either demoted or replaced.

Not just as the birthplace of Hitler but as a country that votes for the far right. From Wiki.

Kurt Josef Waldheim (German pronunciation: [ˈkʊɐ̯t ˈvaldhaɪm]; 21 December 1918 – 14 June 2007) was an Austrian diplomat and politician. Waldheim was the fourth Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1972 to 1981, and the ninth President of Austria from 1986 to 1992. While he was running for president in Austria in 1985, the revelation of his service in Salonica as an intelligence officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II, raised international controversy.

Three weeks after the German annexation of Austria in 1938, Waldheim applied for membership in the National Socialist German Students' League (NSDStB), a division of the Nazi Party. Shortly thereafter he became a registered member of the mounted corps of the SA.

Much historical interest has centered on Waldheim's role in Operation Kozara in 1942. According to one post-war investigator, prisoners were routinely shot within only a few hundred meters (yards) of Waldheim's office, and just 35 kilometres (22 mi) away at the Jasenovac concentration camp. Waldheim later stated that "he did not know about the murder of civilians there".

Waldheim's name appears on the Wehrmacht's "honor list" of those responsible for the militarily successful operation. The Nazi puppet state, the Independent State of Croatia, awarded Waldheim the Medal of the Crown of King Zvonimir in silver with an oak branches cluster.
