I thought that was the plan for his "self funded" campaign.

He is probably cash poor and leveraged to the max. That's why he doesn't want to release his tax returns. Remember, he went broke in the 90s and had to be bailed out by his siblings TWICE.

(20,204 posts)9. I found this from the WSJ (May 15)
http://www.wsj.com/articles/self-financing-campaign-all-the-way-would-have-been-a-stretch-for-trump-1463341722
"It might seem a strange reason for a man who says he is worth $10 billion. But a close analysis of Mr. Trumps finances shows that in terms of ready cash, he would be ill-equipped to foot the bill himself.
When his campaign began last summer, a financial disclosure Mr. Trump filed said he had between about $78 million and $232 million in cash and relatively liquid assets such as stocks and bonds."
Of course a YUGE amount of his stated net worth is his "brand". If he was in a situation where he suddenly had to liquidate, his brand would probably be worth a bucket of warm piss. Hell, considering the bookings at Trump hotels have dropped by over 50%, I doubt they're worth as much as he says they are.
