The Change.org petition titled "Save Tim Allen's Show 'Last Man Standing'" says that the recently axed comedy "stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms. It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values."
ABC announced the cancellation of "Last Man Standing" after six seasons last week.
I'll be honest here... I didn't even realize Tim Allen had another show on the air lol. But the Cons are up in arms about it apparently.

(66,446 posts)I hope she gets more work soon. I've been a fan of hers since I first saw her in a TV commercial back in the '80's. She gorgeous, sexy, smart, and funny. I don't know why she didn't become a bigger star.

(823 posts)He hated Obama, loved guns, hated the pansy ass government types and believed that all men earn their own way i.e. rugged individualism...and probably supported trump, you know, that self made man with rugged individual written all over him. It leaned way right and the liberal characters were all portrayed as weak sniveling whiners. Irritating and derivative, much like Tim Allen himself.

(21,788 posts)His character is a conservative, but not like an alt right Bunker-Limbaugh type. The conservative part is pretty soft soaped, as far as I have seen. Old fashioned would probably be a more apt description.
Basically, he is a lunkhead character who "learns lessons" from his interactions with his wife, daughters, co-workers.
Pretty inoffensive to me.

(24 posts)Tim Allen (the star of the show) is conservative, and expresses his opinions. But, it has iberal characters, as well. They usually give it back to him. Also, in spite of the differences, the show basically portrays a loving family. Overall, the show is clean and innocuous. The shows ratings were respectable (ABC's second-most popular sitcom, next to Modern Family). So, I think that ABC's biggest PR problem at the moment is that it appears to have cancelled the show for political reasons. Unless ABC can explain their reasoning better, I think they will have some difficulties over it.

(7,188 posts)On Friday nights, no comedies. Ratings not great even though 2nd to MF.

(24 posts)Otherwise, the existing meme of, "It was cancelled because it was conservative.", will win out.

(68,643 posts)However, I doubt it has anything to do with politics...ABC wants to take comedies out of that time slot, and they have some great shows already...I bet Netflix or Hulu will pick it up. Also, it is not always about ratings but about demographics for advertisers...my Mom was so angry when '30 Something' was taken off...and called ABC I think, they told her the show had the wrong demographics...basically they said it was a 'woman's' show...she was furious.
