John Dean: Frightened Trump Is In Over His head.

'When Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, he made the worst mistake of his young presidency, because the ham-fisted manner in which he handled it resulted in Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein—who is filling in for the recused Attorney General—having no choice but to select a special counsel to continue the Justice Department’s investigation into the hacking of the 2016 presidential election by the Russians.

Rosenstein, of course, selected an unusually well-qualified investigator/prosecutor, Robert Mueller, the former head of the FBI and former U.S. Attorney for San Francisco. This, in turn, has annoyed Trump to no end. He clearly feels the pressure of being under investigation by someone with both the resources and skills to uncover any wrongdoing by him or his family. Trump’s reaction suggests Mueller may find that the president is not an honest businessman, even if he does not find direct collusion by Trump himself with the Russians.

Much of Donald Trump’s life has involved being in fights—with wives, business partners, vendors, tenants, the news media, and countless others. Trump the politician expanded his fights to include political opponents, and now as president, he is in a fight with the federal intelligence community, the Washington press corps, the “deep state” (otherwise known as career government bureaucrats) and Democrats, along with a few Republicans and even some of his staff.

But what is shaping up as the biggest fight of his life, because it could end his presidency and send his family to jail (if he is unable to pardon them), is the investigation (and potential prosecutions emanating from it) being undertaken by Special Counsel Mueller.'>>>

Your dead end pessimism is not held up by the facts and is self-defeating.

The collapse of the Republican Senate TurtleTrumpCare bill shows that they don't fear him and he doesn't have much power over them.

The Republican Senators have told tRump that they want Mike Pence to handle White House negotiation with their caucus, NOT tRump. The "artful deal-maker" and superhuman closer is being exposed as the fraud he is. David Frum has tweeted "Donald Trump’s core competency is not dealmaking with powerful counter-parties. It is duping gullible victims."

When frauds are exposed they have no friends.

Day by day the tRump brand is becoming toxic for the toxic Republican brand. Soon you will see open push-back, then open revolt, and then there will be talk not only of impeachment but of conviction by two thirds of the Senate, which necessarily includes Republicans.

Democrats need to HASTEN the process and leave a lasting effect for 2018 and 2020 by never leaving an opportunity to weld the Republican brand to the Trump brand. I try as much as possible to call him "Republican Trump".

I think a nation-wide poster campaign would be effective (among several moves that must be begun but the idea came to me now) with a very simple slogan, something like "Obey Your Republican Leader" with a stylized but immediately recognizable graphic of Trump, perhaps in an Il Duce (Mussolini) pose. The key is to emphasize the Republican endorsement of toxic tRump. He is the pinnacle of 40 years of Republican striving, the gold standard of the Republican Party who beat out 16 of their finest leaders for the nomination.

The key is that ACCEPTING "will do nothing and that will be the end of it" is ignoring the power of the people and the power of Democrats, who after all won the Popular Vote in 2016. Accepting it is dead-end wrong.

Courage and justice are both virtues. It takes courage to persevere to right the wrong of the Republican Trump presidency. It takes courage to persevere to right 50 years of Republican corruption and greed. The one sure way to lose is to quit. Now is not the time to be a quitter. Now is the time to strengthen our resolve to defeat the traitors in our midst.

go after 45 and his family. If found guilty in a state court I don't think that Trump could pardon himself and his family. I may be wrong but I would hope that the state courts could out wit 45.
