Sept 21 at 11 AM - Bernie Sanders to deliver lecture at Westminster College

Excerpt:

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will deliver the John Findley Green Foundation lecture at Westminster College in Fulton, joining the list of world leaders including Winston Churchill, Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan who have traveled to the small college to make a major speech on world affairs.

Sanders’ unsuccessful bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 left a legacy of political activism among young progressives and he is viewed as a potential contender for the 2020 nomination. He will outline a vision for a progressive American foreign policy in his speech, Westminster spokesman Rob Crouse said.

The lecture was announced Friday afternoon by acting President Carolyn Perry and symposium Director Kurt Jefferson in a broadcast on Facebook. Sanders will lecture at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21.

The Green Foundation is named for a St. Louis attorney who graduated from Westminster in 1884. Established in 1936, the foundation provides for lectures designed to promote understanding of economic and social problems of international concern. It further provides that “the speaker shall be a person of international reputation.”

Sept 1, 2017

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, a 2016 candidate for President of the United States, will deliver the 58th Green Foundation Lecture on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, MO at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 21.

The Green Foundation Lecture series has brought an impressive procession of illustrious world leaders to Westminster to deliver significant addresses. Sir Winston Churchill delivered his “Sinews of Peace” speech, more commonly known as the “Iron Curtain” speech as a part of the lecture series in 1946.

Senator Sanders, an independent from Vermont, will lecture on his vision for a progressive American foreign policy, in conjunction with Westminster’s annual Hancock Symposium. Visit www.westminster-mo.edu for more information. #WCFeeltheBern

What about his job in the Senate? His Vermont constituents? And what about his book tour? Is that over, too?
