A Call to Action for Election Day: Time to Turn Your Outrage into Votes - When We Vote, We Win
BTRTN asks you to get involved...and there are plenty of Democratic candidates that need your help next Tuesday:
http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2017/10/a-call-to-action-for-election-day-time.html
"Just 51 weeks ago, about 66 million Americans found out, to their horror that they would have to endure a Donald Trump presidency.
Since then, that horror has evolved to a tsunami of outrage as the Trump presidency has unfolded. Rallies, marches, demonstrations, debates of all kinds, on the Internet, in local bars, across family dinner tables, set off by countless inane tweets, America First madness, and Dark Age policies. Trump has dominated casual conversation, and if you are reading this, you have doubtless participated mightily in this rage-a-thon.
But until now, you have had precious little opportunity to translate that outrage into something tangible. That time has come. Here we are, days before Election Day, November 7, 2017. Time to cast some votes that will send a message to Donald Trump, to make sure he understands that his actions have consequences, and that outrage can and will translate into political might.
An off-off year election? No elections that matter? Wrong.
Your outrage means little if you do not work, at least a little, to fight back. Right now. And important elections are happening across the country...."

Here's the problem: No matter how shitty their candidate/s may be, Republican voters turn out on every Election Day. Too many "progressives" and "leftists" don't come out and vote for Democrats, out of misguided purity.
Here's the hard reality: Election decisions are made by people WHO SHOW UP.
This "nothing-but-the-best-for-the-oppressed" attitude sucks.
THERE AIN'T NO SUCH ANIMAL AS A "PERFECT" OR "PURE" CANDIDATE. DEAL WITH IT.
Want to take over the Democratic Party? Can't do that until you are actually IN the Democratic Party. On the local level. Your local Democratic club or committee in your hometown.
You join, become a district leader, attend the meetings, and learn who the players are and where the wires are being pulled. Maybe even run for an office yourself.
Get leftists and progressives into the Democratic Party IN DROVES, and soon they'll influence the state and national party leaders to the point where you will see real change.
No more waiting for Wonder Woman or Superman.
Do it yourself. Get in there, join, canvass the neighborhoods, phone-bank, etc.
End of rant.

(6,095 posts)you have to admit that the left is being ignored over corporate control and Dems will keep losing because of it. The only remedy is offer better, left candidates. The country has moved sooooooo far right because of bought and paid for corporate Dems letting it happen and ignoring their base. The right wins because they cater to their base, hate fear guns god etc.

(21,809 posts). . .and they cannot be ignored by the leaders.
The left is being ignored because not enough of them are in the Democratic Party at the local levels, influencing the higher-ups. They'd rather piss and moan about the state of things than actually participate and have some say in the candidate process. it doesn't begin and end at the voting booth.
I also suggest you read the bottom half of the link posted (". . .in our backyard. . ." etc.)
Because I live in Westchester County and I'm busting my ass for George Latimer plus a local County Legislator candidate for the reasons described in the post. Their opponents are essentially Trump clones, with one having aspirations to run for Governor against Andrew Cuomo next year.
It all starts at the local level. Get out there and do your part.

(6,095 posts)corporate democrats fight against us, what happened to Bernie and Rahm calling progressives crazy come to mind. However, after the womans march and the election of Trump I see locally, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, a lot of women organizing to elect women and progressives. I think they are flying under the radar too. We can only hope. Im a member of a few of our local groups😊
