Can God Make a Planet so Perfect He Can't Warm it Up?
Conservative disbelief of climate change doesn't only come from skepticism about the environmental movement. As Michael Stafford writes, many conservatives have a peculiar religious view of the issue. As they see it, climate change can't be real, because only God is capable of destroying the planet:
Senator James Inhofe, a Republican from Oklahoma, has recently claimed that it is arrogant and "outrageous" to think that humans could alter the planet's climate - a climate that has been ordained by God. Citing to Genesis 8:22, he has argued that AGW cannot be occurring because "as long as the earth remains there will be seed time and harvest." For Inhofe, God is firmly in control.

It is way past time that we start taking climate change seriously......and doing something about it...

(23,867 posts)When you have a 4 degree rise in body temperature, you don't just deny it and resume your daily activities as usual.
The truth is, we actually have a population problem. That is what is behind the whole global warming issue. So we really need to peel away the layers like an onion before we even get to the solution of this problem. And since we are not going to alter emissions significantly enough to make any difference, we need to focus on population now. But that is highly unlikely. Even on DU the population threads disappear magically. What few we have.

(20,885 posts)It sets it down. It's from the Cornwall Alliance For The Stewardship Of Creation
It starts like this:
- We believe Earth and its ecosystemscreated by Gods intelligent design and infinite power and sustained by His faithful providence are robust, resilient, self-regulating, and self-correcting, admirably suited for human flourishing, and displaying His glory. Earths climate system is no exception. Recent global warming is one of many natural cycles of warming and cooling in geologic history.
And then it gets crazy. For those who know deniers, Roy Spenser is one of these assholes.

(17,621 posts)And I see some trees leafing out and flowering trees are blooming -- about a month early. I got a little sunburned when I went to the Saint Patrick's Day parade the other day because I wore a green T-shirt; I'm usually wearing a green sweater and probably even a coat on that day. Maintenance in my building is working on getting the air conditioning system turned on because it's about 80 degrees today and doesn't look to get any cooler any time soon. In the meantime, Patrick the Screwy Orange Cat is sleeping in the bathroom sink because it's the coolest spot in the house. Yeah, climate change is just a liberal myth all right.
