Al Franken petition: My Boss in not my Doctor

http://alfranken.com/index.php/splash/w1202dr/f/CKFNAORMO02

DEAR REPUBLICANS:

My boss is not my doctor. My health care choices are none of my boss’s business -- and none of yours, either.

Seriously -- what’s wrong with you guys?

Signed,

Al Franken
&
YOUR NAME + 103,607 OTHERS HERE

Republicans want to put your boss in charge of your health care.

Is your boss a doctor? Probably not. And even if your boss IS a doctor, do you really want your boss deciding what kind of health care you’re able to get?

If Republicans get their way, you could be denied coverage for contraception or any other treatment your boss doesn’t feel like you should have.

Don’t let Republicans turn your boss into your doctor -- sign this petition now!

yes, indeed--my boss is not my doctor. My boss has no license to practice medicine and neither does the insurance company my boss pays to offer me coverage. My doctor is my doctor--and what she decides is in my best interests, health wise, is between she and me, not my boss or my insurance company.

the reality is that many Americans receive their healthcare as part of their pay and benefits from the employers.

We must move away from employer-provided healthcare and toward a single-payer system. We cannot have employees trying to figure out if employer A covers cancer or employer B covers contraception, etc.

We are stupid as Americans for not recognizing the need for a standard, minimum level of health care available to all Americans. The rich will always fund their own clinics and hospitals that engage in exotic treatments but the "tried and true" healthcare should be available to all citizens regardless of economic status.

Until we come to agree on that we will be at a stalemate.
