Brett Kavanaugh Is On Track To Be A Historically Unpopular Supreme Court Justice
The nominee has the votes he needs in the Senate, but hes underwater in public opinion.
By Ariel Edwards-Levy
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has, however narrowly, the support he needs in the Senate to be confirmed Saturday.
Outside the Capitol, however, Kavanaugh has attracted a level of opposition unmatched by other recent nominees, polling shows.
In Gallups latest survey, released Wednesday, 45 percent of Americans polled said they would not like to see the Senate vote in Kavanaughs favor ― roughly equivalent to the 43 percent who opposed George W. Bushs failed nominee, Harriet Miers. No other nominees, dating back to failed Ronald Reagan nominee Robert Bork in 1987, saw more than 40 percent opposition in Gallup polls.

(8,361 posts)of Kavanaugh. I can't stress enough how our side must put the spot light on the process the Republicans have polluted.
From the beginning they hid documents on him long before Fords letter became known. It was unprecedented and my understanding is they could get away it because they vote on procedures they want to change. It wasn't illegal but it is unethical and that should be our mantra. Just because they have the majority doesn't mean the public has to ignore and accept their underhanded activity.
As we see in the polls, we have the advantage on opinion about this miserable excuse for a man.

All of Washington has been inverted, converted, and perverted.

(8,361 posts)control. The more we win seats the more bold we must be in fighting to amend these egregious errors. Its worth fighting for and we already have the majority opinion with us. People presume life time appointments are set within our constitution, that is not the case at all. At one time there were 10 justices and at another point in time there were 6.

(8,361 posts)we have seen discussions about it for future seats. To remove him once confirmed is difficult but not impossible because a complete investigation could bring more evidence necessary to build a legal case for it. Perjury for one.
What does the Constitution say about picking Supreme Court justices? Not much

(33,544 posts)...however, it is insufficient to deal with the times, mostly because of the original flaw, the original sin, slavery.
The structure of the document was designed to protect slavery, and the single most noxious clause is that creating the Electoral College, a slave enhancing device. (Only one President among the first five was not a slave holder, and he, among them, was the only one to serve a single term.
We need a new constitution; this one is too broken. Unfortunately, as we live in an age of the celebration of ignorance, I cannot imagine a group of people competent to write a workable example.

(22,166 posts)Remember, we are everywhere. Don't talk to him, don't serve him, don't mow his yard, don't clean his house, don't deliver his mail, don't do anything for this piece of crap.
This sexual predator/scumbag who attacks women for his own sexual perverted reasons will not be allowed to forget his behavior. He thought he could get away w/ it by putting on a thing coating of righteousness on top of it, but no, it did not due to the courage of some women who saw that this piece of garbage was about to be elevated to the highest court in the land, and thus spoke up, at great costs to themselves.
When I was 17 years old, I was getting ready for college, working 4 part time jobs at the same time and didn't even remotely have any thoughts of 'devils triangle' and other filthy crap like this. Who had time? Disgusting to the most extreme. It's scumbags like this that creates a false perception that all young men are sexual predators when of course this is not true. 1% of 1% of 1% of young men are like BK and even this low % is way too much. They think that they can act like they are on Animal House, but in fact, they are not. They are part of society (unfortunately obviously) and should suffer the consequences of their actions.
I feel sick to my stomach that this piece of shit is being awarded like this. Remember this fellow DUers, and w/ all of our friends, we'll vote these pieces of garbage out of office, or impeach the hell out of them. I wonder if the women attacked by BK can file personal civil suits against BK? They certainly all are entitled to it and more. In some states, sexual assault crimes do not have a time limit. I know in Maryland they are looking at this, but I'm thinking way too late. A terrible, terrible shame.

(32,748 posts)I doubt he'll have any friends among his co-coworkers, not even Clarence Thomas. All the people who used to admire him have deserted him, and with good reason. He'll have to hire his own squad of cheerleaders, just like Cheeto does.
