US Government-Funded News Network Ran a Hit Piece on Soros That Called Him a "Multimillionaire Jew"

!!

Five months before a man shot 11 people to death in a Pittsburgh synagogue, your tax dollars paid for a broadcast that attacked George Soros as a “multimillionaire Jew” and “a non-believing Jew of flexible morals.”

US Government-Funded News Network Ran a Hit Piece on Soros That Called Him a “Multimillionaire Jew”

The segment on Radio Televisión Martí, a Spanish-language network that broadcasts to Cuba, appeared months before the attempted Soros bombing.

Five months before George Soros received a pipe bomb in the mail, a US government-funded broadcasting network produced a segment that attacked the liberal donor—a common target of conservative conspiracy theories—as a “multimillionaire Jew” and “the architect of the financial collapse of 2008.”

The video segment, which aired in May, was produced by Radio Televisión Martí, a Spanish-language network that broadcasts news and propaganda to Cuba to promote US foreign policy interests. The Miami-based network is overseen by the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, which is part of the United States Agency for Global Media, an independent US government agency whose stated mission is “to inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy.”

The taxpayer-subsidized video portrays Soros as a threat to Latin American democracy. Featuring ominous music and images of street violence, the 15-minute video begins with the narration: “George Soros has his eye on Latin America. But Judicial Watch, an American investigative legal group, also has its eye on Soros and what it sees as his lethal influence to destroy democracies. It describes him as a millionaire investor and stock market speculator who exploits capitalism and Wall Street to finance anti-system movements that fill his pockets.” Judicial Watch, a right-wing group, is in the midst of a fundraising campaign called Expose Soros and has been looking for evidence that taxpayers are funding Soros’ advocacy work.

The United States Agency for Global Media is fully funded by US taxpayers. The agency, until recently known as the Broadcasting Board of Governors, has an annual budget of around $700 million, of which $24 million went to the Office of Cuba Broadcasting last fiscal year.

Bad enough that Radio Marti is completely waste of money -- a boondoggle that has never been close to accomplishing what it was suppose to do (it can't even be heard in Cuba)..

But it's pushing Neo-nazi propaganda, too? How many other non-english speaking radio services does our government produce that have anti-semitic and racist propaganda embedded in them?

He's their boss at the Broadcasting Board of Governors

Is he a hold-over, a sell-out or both?

UPDATE: Looks like the Orange Humperdoo relegated Lansing & the rest of the BBG Board to an ineffective "advisory role" in late 2016 so THIS IS ALL TRUMP'S DOING.

a malignant Cuban "exile" who also headed the Cuban American National Foundation which sponsored mass murderers Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosche, who conceived and planned the bombing of a Cubana airplane, killing everyone on board, including children, and a youth fencing team from Cuba, returning from a tournament in South America. Luis Posada Carriles admitted he was living on funds from CANF to a journalist from the NY Times. He also was deeply involved in Iran/Contra operations in Central America, and also in bombing campaigns to plant bombs in Cuba at hotels, discoteques, restaurants, etc.

Obama had nothing to do with that.

Radio Marti

Radio y Televisión Martí is an American radio and television international broadcaster based in Miami, Florida, financed by the Federal government of the United States through the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), which transmits political propaganda in Spanish to Cuba. Its broadcasts can also be heard and viewed worldwide through their website and on shortwave radio frequencies.

Named after the Cuban national hero and intellectual José Martí, it was established in 1983 with the addition of TV Martí in 1990.[1] The 2014 budget for the Cuba broadcasting program is approximately US$27 million.

Radio y Televisión Martí is an element of the International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB). The sister elements in the IBB are Voice of America (VOA), Alhurra/Radio Sawa, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), Radio Farda, and Radio Free Asia (RFA). The IBB and the Broadcasting Board of Governors are independent federal entities spun off from the now defunct United States Information Agency.

Radio Martí
History

In the early 1980s, the U.S. Government planned to create a radio station to be known as Radio Free Cuba, modeled on Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the mission of fighting communism in the hope of hastening the fall of Cuban President Fidel Castro. The station – renamed Radio Martí after Cuban writer José Martí, who had fought for Cuba's independence from Spain and against U.S. influence in the Americas – was established in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan at the urging of Jorge Mas Canosa. Existing North American broadcasters objected strenuously to the establishment of Radio Martí, fearing that its broadcasts would lead Cuba to retaliate by jamming existing commercial medium-wave broadcasts from Florida.

On May 20, 1985, Radio Martí began broadcasts to Cuba from the United States. The first day of broadcasting was chosen to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of Cuba's independence from United States rule on May 20, 1902. The fears of broadcasters proved well-founded, when Cuba-based transmitters briefly broadcast powerful signals on the medium-wave band in 1985, disrupting U.S. AM radio station broadcasts in several states. Cuba continues to broadcast interference against U.S. broadcasts specifically directed to Cuba in attempts to prevent them from being received within Cuba.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991, the budget for all U.S.-government-run foreign broadcasters, with the exception of Radio Martí, was sharply reduced. In 1996, Radio Martí's studios were moved from Washington, D.C. to Miami, Florida. The move, in addition to placing the station's studios closer to its target audience, also underscored its growing independence from the Voice of America, another U.S.-government-run foreign broadcaster with which Radio Martí had previously shared studios.

Radio Marti has always been operated by Miami Cuban "exiles" and their kith and kin, has operated at an enormous expense to the US Amerian taxpayers, any Congresspeople who have tried to end this outrageous pork barrel bonanza to the "exile" community, (Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart got their fathers profitable jobs running their own show featuring them - ta daaaaa - discussing overthrowing Cuba for Cubans in Cuba to hear, if the signals got through to anyone who might be partly interested. These two men were part of the Batista regime, Diaz-Balart being the Speaker of the House in Cuba, as well as the attorney for United Fruit (Chiquita Brand, later). They were part of the operation Cubans could NOT take any longer and they are part of the reason the Cuban people overturned their filthy, murderous US-supported, (and US Mafia-involved) government, largely owned by US-based corporations, and wealthy US landowners, which included both of George W. Bush's grandfathers, one of them a Senator. Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart threatened Congressman David Skaggs of Colorado he would get him ruined in politics if he didn't stop trying to end Radio Marti, and he set about doing it when Skaggs refused to bow down, spread anti-Skaggs propaganda around Colorado and made sure he was not re-elected. Etc. Violent, nasty, treacherous group.

Lansing appointed Tomás Regalado to run Radio Marti, and he's a well-known Miami poll, part of the tough Cuban-Amerian "exile" group who control Florida politics.

Here's info. on creepy Tomás P. Regalado, :

Tomás P. Regalado is a broadcast journalist, news anchor and producer, and politician who began serving as Director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) in June 2018. Prior to joining OCB, Regalado was the Mayor of the City of Miami from 2009 to 2017. As mayor, he executed a Sister City program with over 40 cities in 14 countries as part of the Mayor’s International Council, which he created. He also served as the Commissioner for District 4 of the City of Miami from 1996 to 2009. Throughout his journalism career, he has conducted interviews with Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Sr., and Bill Clinton.

While at the University of Miami Koubek Center Special Journalism Program, Regalado began working at WFAB, “La Fabulosa” where he became the youngest reporter on staff. At twenty one, he became the Latin American News Editor at WCKT and the host of the news program Tele-Amigo. He returned to WFAB in 1971 to serve as reporter and news anchor. He has also worked as a radio host, anchor, and news director and editor at Channel 23, WRHC, WQBA, WAQI, TeleMiami, and Spanish Broadcasting Systems, as well as a columnist on Cuba policy for El Nuevo Herald. He has covered major historical events including the Gulf War, civil war in Nicaragua and El Salvador, and war in Angola. He has spoken several times before the Human Rights Commission of United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, against human rights violations in Cuba.

In 1981, Regalado became the first Cuban American member of the White House Press Corps. As a White House correspondent and member of the traveling press, he accompanied Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, Sr. on their foreign travels. He attended summits and met such figures as Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin and Anwar Al Sadat on these trips.

Regalado has acted as an executive committee member for the Miami Dade County Homeless Trust for 18 years. Since January 2018, he became an executive committee member for Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.

Miami Lighthouse for the Blind! Sure, that has to be financed, also, by the US taxpayers. Miami's original "exile" community is one enormous pork project, has been from the first. They can do it because US right-wing politiians love to suck up to them, get financial contributions for favors, and, unfortunately, there are some Democrats who have fallen into the same weakness for financial gain, as well. That's why they always head for Miami every time there's a national election, and get their photos taken with powerful Cubans having Cuban coffee at the Versaille restaurant.

Pathetic.

As soon as the US gets honest about dealing with Cuba like a nation of adult human beings, all that pork and attendant political dynamite operating in South Florida is going to disappear overnight, just as Florida is destined to sink beneath the waves, thanks to greedy opportunists who pay US politicians to look the other way and forget their morals.
