The first Dreamer to win the Rhodes scholarship is facing fears he wont be allowed back into the country after completing the prestigious program.
Jin Park, 22, is a recent Harvard University graduate whose family came to the US from South Korea when he was seven.
He won the Rhodes Scholarship last year but now risks not being allowed to return to the United States after studying at the University of Oxford in the UK under the grant.
If I leave, theres a very real possibility that I wont be able to come back. Thats the biggest fear for sure, Park told the Associated Press. I havent really thought about what thats going to mean if Im not allowed back.

(3,163 posts)Not a Trump fan, did not vote for him, would not have voted for him if he was running against Satan. But let's be real. This situation was created by Obama and by the kid himself.
Trump didn't create the rule, it was in place when the kid was given the DACA deferment and the terms of that deferment were known. He's smart enough to earn a Rhodes scholarship, and knows that leaving the country leaves him at risk of not being able to return under the terms of the deferment, which was granted to him by Obama, not Trump, then he should have been smart enough not to apply for the scholarship.
The kid is smart enough to earn a Rhodes scholarship and now says, I havent really thought about what thats going to mean if Im not allowed back.

Give a guy a deferment for a couple of decades and he will become a victim when it turns out not to be permanent.
