Normal Relations with Cuba is in US Interest; Congressman Says

Havana, Mar 30 (Prensa Latina) US Congressman James McGovern (Democrat for Massachusetts) said in Havana that a scenario of normal relations with Cuba is part of his country''s interests.

'I think that relating to each other is something good. The United States should lift the blockade and travel restrictions on US citizens,' the representative who on Saturday continues his working visit to Cuba, told Prensa Latina.

According to McGovern, during his new stay in Cuba, he came to talk with local officials and get acquainted with the reality of the island.

On Friday, the Democratic congressman spoke with Johana Tablada, deputy director general for the United States Foreign Ministry, and students from the Higher Institute of International Relations.

. . .

According to McGovern, most US citizens support normal bilateral ties, a opinion also shared at the Democrat-dominated House of Representatives.

What abnormality about "these times" reasonably precludes normalization of relations with Cuba?

it seems unlikely. Reason has nothing to do with it.

I'm in favor of normal relations.

Yes, we could be selling them fridges and air conditioners. Travel restrictions are also so that US citizens dont go there and learn what it might be like to have better health care, more sharing and
A different way to use resources.
