Her comment "I read the bill" seemed to make this really appropriate for the "Good Reads" forum.

Susan Bucher stood alone against making taxpayers fund not-yet-built nuclear plants

Why did you vote against the legislation that requires customers to pay in advance for construction of nuclear plants?
I read the bill. That's why. To me it was the wrong direction to go, to have a private company use the taxpayers as a piggy bank. If you can't afford to operate your business, perhaps you shouldn't be in it.
So, are you saying other legislators did not read the bill?
They didn't want to. I think everybody was like, ''it was way too many pages.'' The bill was a big bill.

How did you know?
I used to work for a utility company in California as a planner and as a public relations person for our nuclear power plant in San Clemente. You could envision that's exactly what would happen.

if the utility company does not end up building the nuclear power plant the are not required to refund the money back to their customers.
If that is the way Florida's legislature operates I don't understand why so many people retire there.

so could this come back to haunt him if he decides to run for President?

They also used it in the late 60s thru the 80s and it was a disaster.
