Federal Judge, After Reading the Unredacted Mueller Report, Orders DOJ to Explain Itself at Hearing.
'A federal judge who previously said that Attorney General William Barr distorted the findings of the redacted Mueller Report confirmed on Monday that he has finally read the unredacted version. U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton then ordered the Department of Justice to answer his questions regarding certain redactions of the Mueller Report at an ex parte (one party only) hearing next month.
The much-anticipated development in the lawsuit filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), BuzzFeed and BuzzFeed News reporter Jason Leopold comes months after the judge expressed his skepticism about the DOJs decision-making in no uncertain terms. The pandemic, as Judge Walton noted, more than threw a wrench in the matter and continues to do so. But Judge Walton, having reviewed the full Mueller Report in his chambers, made clear that he has some questions that the DOJ cannot answer remotely:'>>>

(801 posts)Does a judge have more resources than congress to "inspire" them to show up and testify, or will they just ignore the judge? I'd sure love to see their butts thrown in jail!!!! I have a pretty good idea what would happen to me if I just ignored a subpoena, and I'd stay in jail until I complied.

(9,090 posts)look at the glossary
hannity should be there for incidental references in the report but the only entry between graf and hawker is redacted completely.
and of the few other redactions in the glossary most are related to stone, corsi, an credico - all long time talk radio operatives - not social media geniuses.
the collusion is still happening right under our noses. putin has been feeding llimbaugh, trump's neighbor and golf partner, and rw radio since at least 2008
the incredible stupidity of ignoring talk radio continues

(43,252 posts)if your connections prove, and they sound logical, then foreign nations committed to First Amendment restrictions are seeding our Free Speech media to undermine our First Amendment and there's nothing we can do about it unless we admit this is a soft spot in our Bill of Rights and restrict our First Amendment to stop what's undermining us.
See how that works? We either allow it to erode us, or we plug the holes which erodes us just the same.
Repression is coming, Baby!

(9,090 posts)a democracy can't survive if we let a few hundred blowhards on 1500 coordinated radio stations repeat the same think tank coordinated lies all day to 50 mil a week.
the talk radio monopoly is not and should not be considered part of the free speech spectrum - it's a protected monopoly. even fox tv has to pretend to be balanced and occasionally entertain dissenting opinions. there are alternatives a click away for politics.
it's a very fixable problem, especially now with artificial intelligence allowing it to be digitized, studied/monitored finally. we've been studying fish without water. the problem started when reagan killed the fairness doctrine and it needs to be fixed, with or without a new FD

Sorry, I'll take my chances with free speech.

(9,090 posts)what those stations have been screaming about liberals and dems for thirty years from every corner and stump in the country and we just walk by with earbuds in our ears talking about money in politics, GOTV, etc, hoping free speech and democracy can survive
rw radio is not a function of demand- it is a well protected monopoly propaganda operation that depends on its invisibility and for democrats to keep analyzing politics as if studying fish without water
so it's been selling corporations are people and money is free speech and regulating media raises cable casts (now internet), creating made-to-order procorporate constituencies while democrats chase their tails and blaming symptoms - like voter suppression, money in politics, and media consolidation
you can't keep free speech if you let fascist think tanks and putin feed an unchallenged 95% monopoly of 1500 coordinated radio stations, with limbaugh on the point, like we used voice of america around the world for 50 years
it's about saying fuck you to the advertisers and ad companies and all the university sports programs that support it until the ad industry has to democratize talk radio - the ONLY major medium operating with no challenge, outside the free speech spectrum

(2,963 posts)I don't think there's anything terribly explosive in the redactions. I just think the judge found stuff for which there is no rationale for redacting - stuff that is merely embarrassing or concealed for political reasons, but for which there are no privacy or security issues - and he wants an explanation.
For transparency's sake, I hope he unredacts those areas where there's no legit rationale. The more we know, the better.

(43,252 posts)I'm thinking there are a few gotcha connections that would surprise no one, and the rest of the redactions were over minor points that were redacted to confuse, obfuscate, and point in other directions.
Would not be surprised if there were some juicy points too
