All the worrisome things happening at the DOJ could be just the tip of the iceberg

To adapt the famous Watergate query to this moment, what don’t we know about the Justice Department, and why don’t we know it? The answers are, in turn: probably a lot. And: because Attorney General William P. Barr has been dodging his responsibility to submit to congressional oversight.

It is becoming alarmingly difficult to keep track of all the reasons to worry about what’s happening at Justice under Barr — and increasingly clear that what we know that is worrisome may be the tip of the iceberg. And it is becoming absolutely imperative that Barr and other senior department officials testify about their activities.

Last Friday saw the botched massacre of Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. The episode was telling for those, myself included, who once had higher hopes for Barr’s second stewardship of the department.

For those who thought Barr might be an institutionalist, protecting the department from the predations of a president with little respect for it, consider: He backed installing a prosecutor in the flagship office with no — zero — prosecutorial experience.

Julian Assange - Apparently, he's still languishing in the U.K and another indictment has been brought though not charged. This case going to be dropped on its head as well courtesy of Barr?

And he conveniently hides behind his religion. It excuses every evil thing he does. Trump doesn't have a religion to hide behind so something else is in play with him. Indeed, with some of his recent statements on testing and other c-19 items it is pretty clear that he is not stable at this time. So why is he not subjected to a medical examine that includes mental health related issues. From what I read people are for some reason afraid of Trump, apparently fearing being fired - never mind that 123,000 Americans have died from c-19. You don't deserve the job if it is all about yourself or your religion and not about the country and the oath you took. That is the purpose of the oath.

My guess is that Barr, when he testifies in the House, will not directly answer a single question asked on the subject matter. He will deflect, set up a straw man to knock down or even lie about what he knows. But Nancy Pelosi has told Chairmen to enforce the rules. We shall see if contempt is brought up and how that is handled.

to think "Barr might be an institutionalist, protecting the department from the predations of a president with little respect for it"

seriously, I can't get past that part
