Trump tries to turn schools into a political win -- as he accuses the left of playing politics
As happens more often than they intend, the hosts of Fox News’s morning program “Fox & Friends” inadvertently encapsulated the current debate over reopening schools Tuesday morning.
“If Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and Germany can do it, can’t America do it?” host Brian Kilmeade said about countries where children have returned to class despite the novel coronavirus pandemic. “Nothing’s easy. We — we find a way to do it. Put protocols together.”
He mentioned several experts and media outlets that had endorsed reopening schools.
“They’re all saying there’s risk, but there’s more of a risk keeping your kids out of school. Send them to school. Meanwhile-”
“But Brian,” co-host Steve Doocy interjected, “at the same time, how many politics are involved in those other countries?”
