The Romney campaign has a new offer out: Donate 3 bucks for a chance to dine with “the Donald” (and Mitt Romney, who gets second billing). It’s not clear whether the winner will really get a tête-à-tête-à-coiffure, or just an invitation to a fundraiser—like the recent Obama campaign raffle for a seat at a $15 million George Clooney event ...

... Mr. Trump told The Daily Beast that he is starting a self-funded super PAC to support Mr. Romney. He boasted that he raised more than $600,000 recently at dinners at his apartment and said rather peevishly that he really is a much better fundraiser than Mr. Clooney, who is one of Mr. Obama’s supporting actors.

Mr. Trump also told The Daily Beast that he should speak at the Republican convention because “a lot of people listen to what I have to say.”

I fully support this suggestion. Mr. Trump should speak at the convention right after Newt Gingrich explains why poor black kids should be given jobs as janitors, and Rick Santorum says that JFK’s speech on the separation of church and state made him want to vomit, and Ron Paul argues that the Northern states would just have bought all the Southern slaves if they were serious about ending slavery. Afterwards, Mr. Romney and Mr. Trump can joke about how much they love to fire people.
