Today's Tiedrich rant: Arizona's forced-birth fascists revive abortion ban from 1864 (NSFW)

terminally-annoying fringe weirdo Kari Lake, the once and future failed candidate for office in Arizona, is running around in a total panic right now. here’s why.

only one day after Little Donny Fuckface put out that video lauding the brilliance of having individual states rule over women’s healthcare, Arizona’s Supreme Court done gone and individual-stated the shit out of reproductive choice.

Today, Arizona’s highest court, in a 4-to-2 decision, upheld an Arizona law dating from 1864 that bans nearly all abortions. The law, which was on the books long before Arizona achieved statehood, outlaws abortion from the moment of conception, except when necessary to save the life of the mother. It makes no exceptions for rape or incest. Doctors prosecuted under the law could face fines and prison terms of two to five years.

way to go, Arizona Supreme Court. ace job, criminalizing access to healthcare by reviving a century-and-a-half old law. that’s right: it’s a fucking territorial law. wrap your mind around that: a territorial law. written in 1864. Arizona didn’t become a state until 1912.

Kari Lake is apoplectic! fuck all the way off, Kari. you see, Flip Flop Kari was for the 1864 ban before she was against it. ...

My friends, this is an awesome Tiedrich rant, with major points against Lake and other Repukes like former Governor Ducey, and Chump himself.

Burn it in your brains and tell a few other people you know. It's a great take on the situation the country is facing.

The answer: demographics. There is something called the fertility replacement rate, which defines as how many children a woman would have to have to replace herself (i.e. a child that then becomes of childbearing age). On average it is 2.1 per woman. It used to be much higher back in the day, but due to increasing costs and the fact that women are much more mobile (at least it should be) and getting careers and jobs, it's fallen. The other thing is, the US is much more ethnically diverse, and I believe by 2050 it will be minority Caucasian. Why is this a problem? Well because it reduces the power to the traditional power structure which was White, Christian Men. So they want to do anything to keep that power structure at all costs.

But I know that a big part of this whole thing is the belief that women aren't producing enough children, particularly white ones. That is a big thing these people are saying. Because of declining birth rates, they want women to produce as many children as possible.

In other cultures, it's still that way until they learn a new way and new voices are heard.

I choose to live in a country that sets the example of freedom and equality - including sexual freedom and equality - to the lesser educated countries that used to look up to us. If we continue down this path, nobody will want to emulate us.

We are not really showing the example. I mean these politicians went to Ivy League schools, yet they want to roll back progress? They clearly are not sending out their best.
