Rochelle Riley: Perhaps gun control now possible in honor of 20 dead children

I am waiting uncomfortably for Newtown, Connecticut authorities to read the names of dead children.

They should not.

We do not need those names for us to know that this shooting is unlike any other in American history.

They do not need to remind us that these victims had yet to attend a prom or fill out a college application or have their first kisses or dream of marriage.

I want to know those children. I want them to have their moment in the spotlight to make up for the spotlights they will miss in their lives.

But first, we have business to do in their names. I want us, the millions of us who don't want this to happen again, to fight for something to be done about the guns.

No, legislation won't happen that soon. But mass mobilization can happen this week.
