OP
Good news. Would think the real rush of signups will occur after folks cogitate a bit.

If I were buying on exchange, I'd investigate plans, network providers, think about deductibles/copays (plans are quite different), look at drug formularies, consider stability of plan, etc., for several weeks or longer before actually signing up.

CoveredCA portal to be functioning properly for me to do that - if it continues to be wiggy I will just sign up via snail mail. Got the application downloaded already just in case.

I went to the federal exchange on October 1, but the whole application process was stupid. A few days ago, they put a button/link where you can just "browse" plans. That worked great.
Truthfully, at my age I probably won't ever use the exchange, but I wish I had the opportunity years ago without the fear of "pre-existing" exclusion. Would have saved me a bunch of money and concern.
Good luck.

"Californians have started nearly 95,000 applications..." Okay, how many have they finished and signed up for?
That is showing 59,500 people signed up. Obama said we need seven million for the plan to work. So shouldn't one think that running victory laps after reaching less than 1% of the goal is a little premature?
