Day 5 of the BLINDNESS - omelettes and commas
Days 1 - 4 are linked here

Only a half day in the sleep shades.
Myself and my classmate each made a baked bacon and cheddar omelette. Pretty good. I added mustard.
The fantastic Adult Basic Education instructor had a one on one session with the young woman I mentioned yesterday. They covered coordinating conjunctions and subordinating conjunctions and the role of commas. I probably violated what I re-learned sitting in that classroom in that last sentence alone.
I typed, from dictation, a business letter and addressed an envelope from the text on a Word document. Pretty easy especially with the excellent instruction that I got from the keyboarding instructor.
Fridays are independent study for the students, and staff meetings and other meetings for the staff. I got to take off the sleep shade at lunch.

(24,576 posts)to share your experiences this week. You seem to accomplish much in a very short time. I think I would need weeks or longer to learn how to do some of these tasks. My hat is off to you, underpants.

(182,828 posts)Yes I have another week under the sleep shades
The kitchen. I had been in the room a couple of times before (cupcakes on my first day) but I didn't really pay attention to the room.
I spent 2 hours a day for the last 5 days - I thought that from the sink (where I anchored myself) to the stove on the left was at least 10 feet. I thought that from the sink to the dishwasher (to the right) was another 10 feet. Yes, clean up was part of the lessons. I went back into the kitchen at lunch to get the rest of my omelette without the shades. From the stove on the left to the dishwasher on the right it was a TOTAL of 10 feet. From the sink to the stove there was only about 3 -4 feet of countertop. I was sure that there was at least 8 feet of distance there.
My wife commented tonight, "You don't need to redesign the kitchen...just put on blinders. You will think your kitchen is HUGE!"
The world does look different when you can't see it.
