Experts Doubt Snowden Could Keep His Leaked Documents Safe From Spies

There is reason to doubt Edward Snowden’s claim that Russian or Chinese spies have not seen the NSA files he leaked.

... Google security engineer Justin Schuh tweeted that the remark showed “Snowden is divorced from reality” ... Jeffrey Carr, CEO of security company Taia Global and adjunct professor at George Washington University ... was dismissive of Snowden’s belief that he knows the capabilities of China’s security services thanks to his work at the NSA ... The Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Jillian York also questioned Snowden’s trust in his knowledge of what China’s spies can and can’t do ... Even if Snowden did know everything about the capabilities of the NSA or its equivalents in other countries, his current location in Russia would hardly put him in a position to know for sure that everyone who has access to his files has adequately protected them. That list now includes people at the Guardian, New York Times, Washington Post, and Pro Publica amongst various others ...

It's hard to respond to something that is pure speculation except to request facts.

Have the files that Snowden brought to US and British newspapers and news blogs -- the most responsible of our newspapers and blogs, by the way, been compromised? There is no evidence anywhere suggesting that is the case. This article is pure hot air, government hot air, but hot air nonetheless.

The Technology Review is divorced from reality. Does it know whether "everyone who has access to his files failed to adequately protect them? I seriously doubt it.

Innuendo is not an argument. How weak can you get.

We at least know the NSA is not very good at this.

have leaked the fact of NSA's spying anonymously without the dramatic world tour?

Anonymous is able to operate successfully without all the drama and spotlight.

Just a thought.
