Elizabeth Warren Responds to Third Way Attack by Talking Directly to Their Owners
This is the smartest thing a politician has done in a while, and if it starts a trend, it could put a major dent in the usefulness of the meatpuppets and sockpuppets of the rich and corporations.
I especially like the idea of Washington usually only fencing with messenger boys of power. It's like pretending to argue with Kermit the Frog about whether muppets are real when you are in a position to see and speak directly to the guy with the hand up his ass.
Dear Mr. Dimon, Mr. Moynihan, Mr. Corbat, Mr. Stumpf, Mr. Blankfein and Mr. Gorman:..
I am writing to encourage you to voluntarily disclose financial contributions your institutions make to think tanks. In my view, policies by your institutions to conceal those contributions from public view are wrong. Greater transparency will benefit your shareholders, policymakers, and ultimately, the public.
In other words, if you want to destroy me, own it. Dont cowardly hide behind front groups like Third Way, do your own dirty work. Which will surely scare the banksters because working for a living is not what they signed up for.
****
So it seems Warren isnt interested in playing DCs favorite game where you only fence with the courtiers and agents of power she went to the source. Sounds like a certain movement I can think of. Occupy the Puppet Masters.

If you are getting your lines from the Third Way (formerly DLC), why not own up to it?
Take pride in sharing the ideas of your wealthy masters.
If you get paid to write for them, you should be even more proud to hold that over the heads of the rest of us idiots who type like monkeys for free.

(39,405 posts)with activists, they morphed into the "Third Way."
When they change names again, we have to keep treating them as exactly what they are.

(39,909 posts)She truly speaks for me.
The only sad part is that she is so outstanding and noticeable.....
for just doing her job.
There should be so many Democrats doing their jobs,
and saying the same things that this Freshman Senator would be hardly noticeable or noteworthy.
She is shaming most of the rest of our Party by their inaction, venality, and meek submission to BIG MONEY.

(484 posts)I am rapidly becoming an Elizabeth Warren Democrat. She is smart, sincere and a fighter. I say that we call out all the shadow figures. Name names loudly and very publicly. Occupy their places of business, their home towns, their streets and their lawns. Publish where they live. Bring on the hoard of Mongols! (I got a little carried away there)

(1,521 posts)If our government is by the people for the people...then these well funded front organizations are actively against the people. Extend that logic just a tudge and you end up with sedition and treason.
These groups (Third Way, Fix the Debt) are subversive organizations that are actively working against the interests of the people of the U.S. and by extension against the U.S itself (as the people and the country are one).
The reason they desperately don't want their names revealed is that it would rapidly become a PR nightmare (bad optics in Washington-speak).
While we cannot constitutionally dismantle the right wing infrastructure we can insist that donors be made public. In essence, if they want to pay then they gotta play. We must insist that everyone that is funding these groups be made public whether individuals or our artificial immortal citizens (corporations).
We need few more like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders who are not owned by the moneyed elite. Let's support them in every way we can and work to elect more like them. They are our only hope.

(94,571 posts)Senator Warren's letter says nothing about contributions to Third Way, and there is no reference anywhere to an attack on Senator Warrent BY Third Way. The only link is the FDL authors suggestion that the individuals contributed to Think Tanks "like" Third Way.
I will acknowledge that Third Way is not progressive in terms that people here understand, and you're welcome to disagree with their policy advocacy. But they ARE a Democratic Party-aligned group. Their membership includes notorious "conservatives" such as John DIngell, James Clyburn, Chris Coons, and former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. They support marriage equality, reproductive rights, ACA, responsible gun control, the Iran nuclear agreement, defense spending cust and a host of other issues many people here would support.
