Fluoride: Killing Us Softly

There’s nothing like a glass of cool, clear water to quench one’s thirst. But the next time you or your child reaches for one, you might want to question whether that water is in fact, too toxic to drink. If your water is fluoridated, the answer may well be yes.

For decades, we have been told a lie, a lie that has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans and the weakening of the immune systems of tens of millions more. This lie is called fluoridation. A process we were led to believe was a safe and effective method of protecting teeth from decay is in fact a fraud. For decades it’s been shown that fluoridation is neither essential for good health nor protective of teeth. What it does is poison the body. We should all at this point be asking how and why public health policy and the American media continue to live with and perpetuate this scientific sham."

*Today more than ever, evidence of fluoride’s toxicity is entering the public sphere. The summer of 2012 saw the publication of a systematic review and meta-analysis by
at Harvard University that explored the link between exposure to fluoride and neurological and cognitive function among children. The report pooled data from over 27 studies- many of them from China- carried out over the course of 22 years. The results, which were published in the journal Environmental Health Sciences showed a strong connection between exposure to fluoride in drinking water and decreased IQ scores in children. The team concluded that

“the results suggest that fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development at exposures much below those that can cause toxicity in adults.”

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Globalresearch.ca
Globalresearch.ca (also under the domain name globalresearch.org) may best be described as a left-wing equivalent to WingNutDaily. It is the website of the Montreal-based non-profit The Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG), founded by Michel Chossudovsky.

The website describes itself as an "independent research and media organization." Globalresearch.ca takes pride in being a reliable "alternative news" source serving as a major repository of a broad range of "news articles, in-depth reports and analysis on issues which are barely covered by the mainstream media" (such as the New World Order). Its politico-economic stance is strongly anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-militarist, "internationalist but anti-globalization." Its view of science, the economy and geopolitics seems to be broadly conspiracist.

Many of globalresearch.ca's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian or environmental concerns, but the site has a strong undercurrent of reality warping and bullshit throughout its pages.

Despite presenting itself as a source of scholarly analysis, globalresearch.ca mostly consists of polemics many of which accept (and use) conspiracy theories, pseudoscience and propaganda. The prevalent conspiracist strand relates to global power-elites (primarily governments and corporations) and their New World Order. Specific featured conspiracy theories include those addressing 9/11, vaccines, genetic modification, Zionism, HAARP, global warming, and David Kelly. Analyses of these issues tend follow the lines of the site's political biases.
Apparently, contributors to globalresearch.ca consider information sourced from anyone who seems aligned to their ideology as reliable; during the 2011 Libyan civil war the site was an apologist for Muammar al-Gaddafi, reproducing his propaganda and painting him as a paragon of a modern leader.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_for_Research_on_Globalization
The Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) is a think tank based in Montreal, Canada. It operates websites in English (globalresearch.ca) and French (mondialisation.ca) as well as other languages. It is also involved in book publishing, public conferences and lectures, and produces a weekly radio programme (The Global Research News Hour). According to its website, over 6000 authors have contributed to globalresearch.ca,[1] which according to Alexa Internet was ranked in the top 15,000 websites globally as of 4 September 2013.[2] Globalresearch.ca says that it "welcomes submissions", and whilst submissions are subject to "editorial review", it offers the disclaimer that "the views expressed in Global Research articles are the sole responsibility of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect those of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG)".[1]

A 2005 article in The Jewish Tribune criticized GlobalResearch.ca as "rife with anti-Jewish conspiracy theory and Holocaust denial." B'nai Brith Canada had complained that there were comments on a forum that questioned how many Jews died in the Holocaust. Website editor Michel Chossudovsky responded that there was a disclaimer that the website was not to be held responsible for the views expressed in the forum, and he had the comment removed. He also said that he was of Jewish heritage and would be one of the last people to condone antisemitic views.[3] The same article also reported that B'nai Brith Canada wrote a letter to the University of Ottawa (Chossudovsky's former employer) asking for the university "to conduct its own investigation of this propagandist site."[3]

CRG was described in 2011 as having "an intimate and wildly successful relationship" with the RT network (previously known as "Russia Today&quot . Contributors to CRG include Thierry Meyssan.[4]

CRG is a registered non-profit organization in the Canadian province of Quebec.[1] It accepts donations and offers a variety of paid "memberships" as a form of donation to support its work.[5]

In some parts of the world the water is naturally fluoridated. The people that lived there were just as healthy and smart as anywhere else, only they have tooth decay at a far lower rate than elsewhere. That is why they started to add fluoride to Municipal water supplies in this country.

I do know I used to get lots of cavities as a kid, until the town started adding fluoride to the water and that problem stopped.

There was a village in Italy where the people had discolored teeth. But they had no cavities. When that situation was investigated, the investigators discovered that the only difference between this village and many other villages in Italy was the water they were drinking. It had high concentrations of fluoride in it. There were other villages that also had fluoride in the water and tooth decay was almost nonexistent in those places, too. In this country, where fluoride was added to the water, tooth decay dropped dramatically. Later on, in cities where they stopped adding fluoride, the incident of tooth decay rose again.
Those are facts.

from the John Birchers in the 50s to the crunchy granola conspiracy theorists now.

Fluoride has been proven to strengthen tooth enamel. People who have been drinking fluoridated water all their lives have much better teeth than their parents did.

All the nutbars ever have against it is anecdata and trying to turn correlation into causation.

And "neurotoxicant?" Everybody in the field knows the word is "neurotoxin."

To each his own I guess but I would like to see Fluoride expunged from our water supply. I've researched this subject enough to know I don't trust it.

If it's a poison, it is clearly the weakest and most ineffectual poison known to man...

The sad part is the types of "scientists" who write this are always playing blind, deaf and dumb to the REAL, confirmed poisons in our atmosphere and daily lives...

others' points of view.

We admit that we don't know everything. But you seem to think that you know enough of everything to discount other people's opinions. You don't.

One year we're told that butter is bad for us, but margarine is good. The next decade, we're told the opposite. The fact is, WE'RE ALL STILL LEARNING. And it's the height of arrogance to tell someone that they ought not to post something, just because you disagree with it.
