American Classic's Birthday-Grapes of Wrath

"One nice thing to think of is the speed of obscurity. Grapes is not first now. In a month it will be off the list and in six months I’ll be forgotten. "

How wrong, Steinbeck was.

A short article about the vilification and abuse the author faced after the publication of the book.

I think , in my formative years, this is the book that did more to influence me than any other.

EDIT: I'm not going to say your link needs "NSFW" in the title, but after reading the piece I went to the main page to see what other content was on the site...And holy damn that is not something anyone's boss or supervisor should see when looking over their shoulder...

I only go to that link to look at the articles, if you ignore the "extras" they have outstanding and thought provoking articles - you gotta admit

which is why once I read the piece I went browsing around the site for other articles...

It's just that the size and resolution of the 'extra' content is very, very visible on a workplace PC, even if it's on-screen for a second or two...

Grapes of Wrath...

Available at Amazon,
Available at Barnes and Noble

--Then I think of the segment on Bob Edwards show about Amazon. The time it was hot in one their warehouses. Rather than spend money on the air conditioner, they actually stationed ambulances to collect the workers that were fainting from the heat.
