Fukushima silence

Buildings remain vacant and streets deserted inside the 20km (12 mile) radius exclusion zone surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. The March 2011 tsunami knocked out the plant's cooling systems, leading to the world's worst atomic crisis in 25 years. 20 PHOTOS

According to Fukushima Prefecture's official web site, as of December 15, 2011 there were more than 61,000 former Fukushima residents who had evacuated to other prefectures (states). Most, but not all of these evacuations were due to the nuclear disaster. And that does not include the number of residents who evacuated to other parts of Fukushima Prefecture.
