On Cantor- I would like to thank Wayne Powell (2012) and DU'er elleng
My involvement with the 2012 Wayne Powell campaign against Cantor consisted of attending his HQ opening, planting a brilliant CANTOR FOR SALE sign (like a Rental sign) on a busy intersection, and attending a Powell event with DU'er elleng --- who drove down to Richmond for a high school gym event to show her support.
The people I met at the HQ opening were the always-there volunteers that grind it out in the non-glamorous Congressional elections. My wife and I ended up working on the Tim Kaine Senate campaign (~1,400 doors I knocked on) and partied with the staff at the Marriott in downtown Richmond. The grinders on the Powell campaign don't get that sort of party.
What did Powell do? He pulled 40%. That was the foreshadowing of yesterday. People simply didn't like Tom Bliley's appointment and it showed. Powell had NO support from the DNC but still made a good showing.
Thank you Wayne and Ellen.

and yes, THANK Wayne Powell, a fine, intelligent person.
And largely because of what Dem party failed to do then, I've responded to 2 of their solicitations today: 'IF you support significant candidates, I will send you some money, but as you often fail to do so, I will send candidates money directly.'
Thanks Ellen. Well said.
