of course, it was all anonymous. Strangely, it was laden with sexual innuendo...that I was wanting to have sex with Bill Clinton because I was supporting him as president. Of course, my letter had nothing to do with any sexual matter, it was on certain policies of the Clinton Admin. but alluva sudden I was a kind of Monica or something...

some of the comments have been crazy over the years, but i usually get three or four letters published at least, so i'm used to the wackjobs. They just need to be responded to right away (without breaking down) and eventually they'll go away.

for crazy folks to look you up. This was a while ago, before digital newspapers. The letters were handwritten, full of expletives and of course unsigned. I considered turning them over to the police but decided since there was no threat of harm, not to do so. I don't know what they would have done, anyway...

meaning, if a conservative gets a partisan letter published and a liberal takes the trouble to look them up and send them a letter or something, I have never heard of a liberal threatening that conservative with anything but information and/or facts.

but let a lib get a partisan letter published, and the gates of hell swing open to reveal a snarling cadre of haters.
