please tell me and tell everyone else reading this exactly what steps the Catholic Church could take in the child abuse scandal that would satisfy you.

In other words what actions could my church take - today - that would make you think more highly of it and not with "disdain" as you put it.

Be honest. Is there anything they could do? Please stick strictly to the child abuse scandal and not church teachings, dogmas, traditions, etc that you do not agree with.

Because many people use the child abuse scandal (horrible as it was) to bludgeon the church with, please let us all know the concrete steps the Catholic church should take to meet your personal approval on this issue.

I eagerly await your answer.

Catholic Church - COME CLEAN!

Enough with covering the crimes of your hierarchy.

I'm not anti-Catholic, as I was baptized one, and my Mother was devout (and I try to honor her memory every day). But, the coverups have been too much to bear. The coverups are what drove me from the church.

All joking aside. I offered a solution for the Catholic Church - TRANSPARENCY. No generalities involved.

If the Catholic Church found (they already know who the sex offenders are), identified, put them on trial and, if found guilty of child sex abuse (with no statute of limitations), jailed (or castrated, better still) and excommunicated the sons-of-bitches...

THAT would be a start that would make me, and possibly the victims of these wide-spread horrendous crimes and their families, "think more highly of it".

(i was raised Catholic and early on turned away from the doctrine... remember- this is NOT about the doctrine- this is about JUSTICE)

Some things and certain people at certain times are not legitimate targets for a sicko bully's 'humor'.

As the church struggles to cleanse herself and a brave, frail old man gallantly stands aside for a stronger candidate, that's a time to stand and applaud, not for ridicule from hypocrites. The church as a whole - like ALL humanity - has a lot to answer for, but let the sinless cast stones. I consider myself a faithful if sometimes defiant Catholic, and I certainly would've stormed out if I'd been there when the bishops' letter against President Obama was read to many congregations. But I'll be damned myself if I sit silent while ANY pharisee holds himself above us.

A good motto: Clean up thine own backyard first.

You dredge up a week-old post to "cast asparagus" on me, because of your defense of the indefensible actions of the Catholic Church?

Normally, I wouldn't let a newbie get under my skin, but what you're insinuating is beyond the pale. And, the jury elected to let your post stay.

So, what else do you have to say to me, newbie? Bring it on...
