Union power

Anchorage's mayor -- a/k/a worst.mayor.ever -- is attempting to strip city workers, including police and firemen, of their bargaining rights and step increases. Hundreds of people showed up last night at a special session of the assembly to voice their concerns. This is the scene outside.

We don't have a mayor election until 2015 and the asshole governor is eligible for basically a third term next year since he took over when Sarah quit. Our districts are illegally gerrymandered, and the R's have a supermajority in both houses. Democrats and progressives here are reeling.
