Hi,
When will this be translated into something more besides the presidential election? With all the gerrymandering taking place, who knows? We should have majorities in both houses with these kinds of polling results, it is frustrating.

(10,893 posts)when reapportionment happens. For right now, you can forget about Democrats getting much done.

Tell me when we start passing bills to help the lower classes, then I will be happier.

(12,287 posts)even with the gerry mandering I think Paul Ryan's going to lose next time. More and more of the repubs around here are thinking he's getting rather creepy...and is a shill for corporate goons.

(55,981 posts)probably get a yes. Ask them if they would vote for a Democrat and they will say no f'in way.

(17,505 posts)Hell, I know Repugs who even vote for reps they hate. They just "vote republican" because.... they always have... they always will. It's kinda like evangelical religion.... you just do it. Don't think! Just do as "tradition", no matter how obsolete, dictates. My friend, who is not high up on the economical ladder, was complaining about Obama last election. I asked her "are you really...REALLY gonna vote for Romney?" "He's a asshole" "But you're gonna vote for him..." She looked confused. I said. "Fer Christ sake, just hold your nose and vote for Obama. And if you can't bring yourself to vote for a black man, which you know is your problem, then just don't vote at all."

DFW
(54,405 posts)They hold a huge majority of the state governorships, including such population centers as NJ, PA, TX, OH, FL and MI, have been able to gerrymander themselves a solid majority in the House of Representatives, and pose big enough a danger for the Senate to require a huge campaign effort next year just to hold our slim majority.
Their "estrangement" has not stopped them from having a "stranglehold" on our government.
So what if voters know they're bad? As long as they're not convinced we're better, the poll is of little comfort.

Male, married and well off but that segment is shrinking exponentially due to the disastrous policies toward the middle class by the Austerians and Austeriennes.
If Bubba don't learnt to change his diet of red meat and fried gravy at every victual then the party of Lincoln is gonna smaller than a corpuscle wedged betwixt two pork chops swimming together through a ventral artery faster than a King Ranch 4X4 can punch potholes in a countyline black top.
I hear tell that the deep fried bacon is wonderful south of the Red River this time of year, hint. Hint.

(437 posts)since that was also the core constituency of the German Nazi Party. All we need is some future insult to America's dignity, and things could get very ugly indeed. Thankfully their main crumpled resentment-filled war veteran has already been ousted from a central role after losing to Obama, but they've got plenty of other irrational creepoids to throw at us. Ted Cruz is still on the rise, for instance.
Do we really have to descend into nightmare, again?
Or will the GOP fail entirely, as some right wing parties do (viz. New Zealand), opening politics to a discourse between pro-Earth and pro-human folks, seeking a common ground?
Maybe in a generation or two?
