May 21, 2013
Glenn Greenwald explained the Obama Justice Department's sweeping surveillance of journalists, President Obama's atrocious record on press freedom, how the Wikileaks prosecution theory is now being used to criminalize all investigative journalism, the parallels between the Nixon and Obama Administration on press freedom and how the Obama Administration is codifying the rogue policies of the Bush era.

This clip from the Majority Report, live M-F at 12 noon EST and via daily podcast at http://Majority.FM

...so they could ''legally'' drone Americans without the pestering involvement from those other silly little branches of government, they no doubt had a great group of lawyers from the Office of Legal Counsel and some other really, really wonderful human beings over in the Oval Office look things over and they have given due consideration to the concept of ''press freedom'' and they have determine that their rights may have been slightly smudged but overall have been protected and are intact.

So there's no need to worry about a thing.

- Please America chill, okay. Go shopping and help the economy......

I blame the Judges that granted the Warrants.

It's the Agents 'job' to 'solve the case' and they'll do so by making all manner of allegations of 'illegality' in their warrant requests. It's been going on ever since 'warrants' existed.

It's the Judge's job to know the applicable law(s), and reject them if they violate The Law.

I don't blame the 'Justice Department', they did nothing illegal, because they got the warrants they requested, and basically did things 'by the book'.

I blame the Judiciary branch, for allowing the requested warrants ... of course, that's assuming that they were actually in contravention of existing Laws, which I'm not entirely convinced they were.

But if they were, it's the Judge's fault for signing off, IMHO.

The Agents 'job' is solving the case, within the bounds of the law. It's the Judges 'job' to make the determination of what the law IS.

In the case of the Fox News reporter, the judge signed a warrant based on DOJ's claim that the reporter violated the Espionage Act. They said he committed conspiracy under the Espionage Act by talking with the leaker and receiving the leak. That is a radical new interpretation of the Espionage Act that would make all investigative reporting about government secrets a serious felony. That's why people are upset about it.

My understanding is no journalist broke any law in any of these cases discussed in the videos.

I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe sometimes.
I never considered that a Democratic president would be doing this kind of shit.
