when you don't have access to the basic tools of our society. This is why the "Obama-Phone" or whatever sneering derogatory they want to call it is so vitally important. This is why a basic level of direct cash welfare payments are so vitally important. This is why section 8 housing, food stamps, and affordable public transportation is so vitally important. Without the basics, being able to keep yourself off the street is so so hard.

Heart breaking. People need help and we are supposedly the richest country in the world and we can't find a way to help people get off the streets. You can tell this man only wants a break. God bless him. I hope and pray he and many others can find work.

The streets will be filled with seniors if they hack at Social Security and Medicare.
Imagine what that would look like.
