"legalized torture." I have experienced it firsthand. I committed no crime, nor was I accused of committing one.

For me, the worst thing about solitary confinement was not the boredom. It was the fact that everyone who was not confined acted like I didn't exist and refused to speak to me, ignoring my requests to be allowed to use a restroom. The second worst thing was the fear that, in case of an emergency such as fire breaking out, no one would unlock my "cell" and I would be left to die.

Boredom came in third.

Your story and others that I have read have a similar theme-doing nothing and being penalized...

We need to curtail the prison profit system....
