(9,132 posts)I dearly hope that southwestern and western US states with large Latino populations don't make the same mistakes that they did back in 2010. I hope they work harder to engage the Latino vote.
Before I get started, I have to admit it. I'm an Anglo-Saxon who has voted Democratic pretty consistently since 1990.
I dearly hope that Democratic Party operatives keep track of how Republican congressional reps vote on Immigration reform (as well as school funding and food stamps) and track how each Republican voted in his or her district. I also hope and pray that Democratic operatives use those Republican reps' votes to let their Latino constituents know what their congressional representatives have been doing to them, as well as who those Republican congressional reps' playmates are.
I have a horrible feeling that the Republican-controlled House of Representatives will kill Immigration reform and block the DREAMers' paths to citizenship [I dearly want to be wrong, but I see little cause for optimism]. That, and the all-too-likely of hungry and malnourished children and the infirm should FINALLY be enough to make some of the politically-inert (in Texas, at least) politically-active.

. . . well yes . . . but that's not her point. It appears to be (and I'm just guessing) that Republicans must never do anything that will serve the public good lest they be punished by . . . someone.
I think Bachmann is literally losing her mind. She's always been pretty whacked-out, but now she expects us to follow her around as she perambulates Cloud-Cuckcoo-Land, never minding that we'd prefer to live in the real world.
Too bad she's resigning. Getting her ass whipped would do her a world of good.

(10,924 posts)That statement appeared to reference the Dream Act, which allowed children of illegal immigrants to stay in the country; however, they were not granted the right to vote in the 2012 election.

In case the Bachmann one-liner above confused you as it did me ... there was something familiar about it, but I knew Obama didn't give all under-30 Latinos or Latinas the right to vote ... she is a chronic liar to the point of comical pathology.
