Boycotting an entire state seems a bit far fetched to me. What about the people who are simply trying to make a living? A lot of them can't go anywhere else because of limited funds, skills, or whatever. No, I say just keep pressure on Florida by making the leaders look stupid and maybe encourage some sports and entertainment figures from and associated with Florida take a stand. Sad as it may seem, people will listen to the aforementioned figures and will often follow their leads.

I live in Florida. I moved back here when it appeared that the state was moving in a positive direction. That all ended when Jeb Bush got elected and it's been downhill for the last 12 years.

Granted, people are so busy just trying to scratch out a living that they didn't pay attention to what was happening.

Honestly, they really don't care if they look stupid to the rest of the country as long as they get to pass the laws that will keep them in power.

I've never really cared for sports, but if they could do something positive about this situation I'd certainly be grateful.

And is working for a struggling family business. I say no.
Between the economy, the drop in tourism due to the BP spill, and a myriad of other problems plaguing many businesses already, this boycott would surely put our tiny company out of business.
And we're JUST starting to get back on our feet.
This would make many people that have no control over what happens in this state, other than voting, suffer needlessly.

Something must be done, but a blanket boycott seems like an overreaction.

Ron is correct in saying that the black group of Americans is at CRISIS. A statewide boycott is massive, but not an overreaction when you consider the stakes...it is time for a change, one way or another.

GOTV (motivate more and more to vote), money to progressive causes, work to end SYG laws, build up the African American communities... many positive things to do

boycott the people and corporations that bring the regressive laws and hurt the people... not the state
