This topic came up repeatedly in discussions among folks I thought were more enlightened. I have known some of them for thirteen years and they have always extolled the benefits of their new democracies and freedoms. Yet they were, dare I say, rabidly anti-homosexual. I attempted to point out the discrepancies in their reasoning but they would have none of it. As a sociologist, I have to remind myself that change is often measured generationally, not instantly.
