The Worst Charities in America

The following interview originally aired on the July 21st, 2013 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV. When you give money to a charity, you do so under the assumption that the money you donate is going to a worthy cause. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. In recent years, more and more charity scams have been popping up. Ring of Fire guest host Farron Cousins talks investigative journalist Rick Outzen about some of the biggest charity scams in America.

I am on the no call list, and got a call the other night that didn't identify on my caller ID, so I didn't answer but called the number back. They said they were Kids Wish, which happens to be at the top of the list on this video. When I told her I was do not call and to take my name off their list, the guy said, "But we are a legitimate charity and have a right to call and raise money for this worthy effort." My response before hanging up was "No, you are probably one of hundreds of scams that raise millions and give pennies to the charity." Guess I was right; they raise $128 million and 2.5% of it goes to the cause.
Anyone who ever gives money due to an unsolicited letter or call is a total chump.
