1. You can still sign petition to Gov Brown and make calls

please join me in Calling Gov Brown, especially if you are from another state.

Call Governor Jerry Brown
Phone: (916) 445-2841, (510) 289-0336, (510) 628-0202
Fax: (916) 558-3160
Suggested script: I’m calling in support of the prisoners on hunger strike. The governor has the power to stop the torture of solitary confinement. I urge the governor to compel the CDCR to enter into negotiations to end the strike. RIGHT NOW is their chance to enter into clear, honest negotiations with the strikers to end the torture.

Petition to sign

be needed to dramatically reduce the number of prisoners placed in solitary confinement and the length of time prisoners are held in solitary.

I don't think solitary confinement will or should be abolished entirely, because there is a need for facilities to temporarily separate inmates from each other, but I cannot understand how solitary confinement of more than a couple weeks to a month would ever be deserved by inmates coming from the general population.

Private prisons must be eliminated entirely--they are a perversion within our justice system.
