No they can't ban them, but that doesn't mean S.F. must give them tax breaks and/or not enforce minimum wages laws. Also it depends on which Big Box Stores you are talking about. Costco does provide good value for the money and is a good employer and neighbor.

Did you know McDonalds used pink slime in their chicken McNuggets? Did you know several food processes were using horse meat and selling it as beef? You don't even know what has GMO and what doesn't. It's not that most people object to huge faceless corporations selling them food, it's that these huge faceless corporations try to pass off crap as good food in order to make a profit. Corporations are NOT in the food business. McDonalds is not in business to sell the best food they can. They are in business to make a profit and to make a profit they will lie, cheat, con and manipulate you. Their business model is corruption because corruption makes a bigger profit than honesty and good food does.

By the time consumers catch on to the con, the corporation has made a profit already. They have already sold you water injected meat and have moved on to gluing together cheap cuts to sell as quality cuts of meat. A consumer can not protect themselves from every corrupt practice out there because corporations are always coming up with new cons. In a static world the consumer can decide not to shop there anymore. But with the constantly changing cons and manipulations you just never know what crap you are getting from a corporation.
