Attempting to associate the brand itself with a good feeling after an enormous tragedy. Not tasteful, IMO. Just attempting to appear as if they give a shit about Americans, and offering one of many anesthetic hollow treatments to avoid feeling anything.

Of course they honored the dead, that's the natural thing to do, for any human. For anyone with a heart and a shred of decency. But they, and many others, manipulated that spirit into a selling message. Didn't you feel good watching those horses bow? Of course.

On 9-11-01, I ended up my day getting a bottle of cheap ass vodka so I could shut my brain off after the news woke me up @ about 6am and I stood on a rooftop wondering which of the buildings in the city I occupied was next to be hit. I needed to wash that shit out of my head with even worse shit, which at least was unaffiliated with any news outlets and promised a headache, but at least different from watching the news.

This Anheiser-Busch/Bud commercial applauded that self-medication.

Fire away. Brands are not what this nation stands on. Coke, who fouls water all over the world. Ford, whose founder praised and believed in Hitler. Sears, which used to give us a "wishbook" then took its manufacturing overseas to impoverished nations, as did most "American" companies and retailers, resulting in the mess we find ourselves in now.

Keds. Oshkosh b'gosh, JCPenney, Macys, Chevrolet, Jiff. Stay-Puft (although he did embody the hate, before he became too small, at 100 stories, to contain it all). Peter fucking Pan killed and sickened a lot of people not long ago. With a name like Smuckers, who'd have guessed they'd put poison in your morning jelly. Wonder Bread = I wonder what kind of chemicals and poisons are in that.

Jesus: a long-haired, dark-skinned liberal, now a corporate sponsor of raw hatred. And the kkkonservatives hate him even more than they would if he reappeared today.

Picking up a drink is the last thing I would do in a stressful situation. Not that I drink much at all anyway.

That said, I thought the ad was at least interesting. A bit of corporate jingoism, to be sure, they didn't need to use corporate imagery at all. They could have used their money to buy airtime FOR the victims, without ever putting their brand on it. They could have done a lot of things. But I don't find the ad rankles me, I think they kept it fairly tasteful. I don't think they lost any people in the attack. The companies that did, I know, appreciated outreaches like this to some degree. We didn't, miraculously, but some of my co-workers help maintain the green space in the back of the company next door, honoring the 17 people they did lose.

Makes me no more or less likely to pick up a Budweiser, that's for sure. But not offensive by any means.

But this is a result of marketing, which of course incorporates mental manipulation, and I won't bother to mention how I know this, because someone will always pop up claiming higher creds.

I agree that they should have used the money spent on this ad to help first responders, many of whom are now dead from cancer, quite possibly related to the nuclear elements in that implosion, dismissed by many poo-pooing anti-CTs who are CTs-are-actually-CTs theorists. Sorry, it gets too long to try tracking threads upon threads, and at this point I'm hoping the truth comes out somewhere, but anyway---

anytime a corporation runs an ad commemorating a tragic event, it does so in its own interests. Period.

I liked the ad and it would not make me want to buy Budweiser because I do not like beer. I have seen all the Budweiser horses up close and I love them.

Just paste the URL of the YouTube video directly up in the OP, it will automatically embed.

You do not have to use the 'link' button - if you do use the 'link button' then the video will not show up in the OP.

Hope that helps
