Report: Republican Shutdown Shuttered Businesses Permanently - Ted Cruz Tea Party Hero???

The Republicans who chose to play games with American's lives should watch how their self-centered decisions affected REAL Americans with small businesses who they 'say' they support. In reality, they killed off countless small businesses during their shutdown game. This CBS report showcases just one small sampling as case-in-point.

These deeds fall squarely on Ted Cruz and the Tea Party Republicans in the Congress and Senate. The GOP acts and talks like they support small business and the American capitalist, but look at what their actions do in reality. They selfishly and self-centeredly pick stupid fights in order to play their game in politics, while hurting actual small business owners who are trying to earn a living in this hurting economy.

_______

These examples need to be ads in the mid-term elections.

The Tea Party is killing this country, one small business at a time.

From Elizabeth Warren: $24 billion dollars. How many children could have been back in Head Start classes? How many seniors could have had a hot lunch through Meals on Wheels? How many scientists could have gotten their research funded? How many bridges could have been repaired and trains upgraded

So that money wouldn't have gone to funding research or repairing bridges. But what it really did was to take a bite out of the GDP, take money out of families' pockets and the revenues of small business, hit the fall tourist season really hard in many places, and generally kneecap the economy.

can have hundreds - even thousands - of folks working for them. Most folks think of a local greasy spoon or car repair place or lawn maintenance operation as a "small business". And the Republicans embrace and promote that ignorance because it serves their aims. Of course, ignorance in general, makes a Rethug grin.

It is and always has been about THEM. What is even worse is they never think beyond their nose so disasters are in the making every time they make a step or come up with another hair brained idea. They can never focus on other people, in other walks of life. Hunger? Jobs? Small business? Everything they mow down is considered a victory. They have created a black eye that is seen around the world. Their actions, their stunts, their stupidity will cause undo suffering for many for a long time.

after the vote was completed, I had several conversations with business owners around Yellowstone NP who are in similar situations... YNP will be open tomorrow morning! Man, if I could afford the gas and some stray cash, I'd go down the hill and have lunch at one of the businesses that might be open, there won't be any services in the park since it only has two -three more weeks before it closes for the winter. But I'd like to go into the park too.

Most of the small businesses have closed until mid December (when the park opens for winter visitation) or next spring. They all took a big hit financially as they are in the same boat as the folks in the video. We had some fires around here too but not as bad as in Ca this year, but they still chased a lot of people away due to smoke. We got the smoke from the Rim fire here along with all of the smoke from the several fires we had in our area and everything in between. Truly down-winders.

So I'll know in a day or two who is not going to be here next year because of the TP temper-tantrum fiasco.

They should be made to pay their wages into a fund for these folks whose lives they have ruined. If nothing else, their districts should not receive general funding for projects until all the voter districts hit the hardest needs are met, maybe those folks will learn not to vote for buttheads like that again. The Congresscritters who caused this have not/will not learn the lesson of this so their constituents need to figure out that they made a costly error by electing them.

I do know that so many people (esp. in the South) are low information, non-voters. I talk to a lot of people about the govt. we deserve-vs- what we have. Many would say if these people don't vote, "they get what they deserve."

So many people don't vote, saying "nothing will change anyway."

America is so fucked up..

George Carlin was right. It seems like we only have the illusion of democracy.
I sure would love to educate average people and get them to vote...maybe then we would see.

heard separately, they seem boastful, perhaps obnoxious... but alongside the realities of people's lives being altered forever, they seem psychotic, inhuman and brutally evil.
