One of the things I like about the show "True Blood" was the way it showed the locals in the deep south as being rather progressive with a remaining loud minority of redneck racists that are looked down on as ignorant hicks by the general population.

ideas from the Neanderthal Age. You would think they would have learned by now that those ultra-right-wing conservatives are not on their side. But, the list of the loser conservatives from the South is so long.

Maybe things will change now that the Republicans made utter fools of themselves.

I'm glad that Bernie Sanders will be on the committee resolving the budget and debt issues. He will force Republicans into admitting to their own voters in the South where they stand on Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid. (If it isn't already clear enough.)

I believe Bernie is "preparing the soil" so he and others can "plant the seed" to move the RED states towards looking at issues as if their interests counted, even more importantly than say the Kochers. Even if BLUE only happens in one of these RED states, it's a start...who knows, point is we can't write 'em off if we care about defending liberal values and promoting a progressive agenda.
