in which it is legal to discriminate against LGBT people in employment and housing. Not one Southern State has civil unions, and it is very likely that those two States will be last to do anything for civil rights under the law.
I'm very sorry, but a few nice folks does not make up for the bad law and vicious politicians and religious leaders. It's a cute video, Waffle House, bless their hearts. Waffle House gave 100K to Karl Rove's American Crossroads last year.

That they were not saying the majority of people would support it. They were not saying there isn't homophobia! Good grief!

own it rather than play games about how much they really like gay folks? If they are not bigots, let them prove it at the ballot box and until they do the facts will be presented to counter the self serving claims.

It is a comedy show. It is not really saying people in those states are not homophobic bigots. It is humorously showing that some are not.
I am on your side. I hated that Clinton didn't do away with DADT as he could have by executive order on his first day in office. I hate homophobia.
This does not mean there can't be humor on the subject, Do you understand that Jon Stewart is pro gay rights, as was the humorous interviewer on the show?
Do you understand that Nate Silver, who is openly gay, cooperated with that humor bit?
