Related: About this forumTYT: Black Teen Shot, Killed By Neighborhood Watch (No Arrest Made!)
Via Global Grind: "17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by a Neighborhood Watch captain inside his own gated Orlando, Florida community where he was living with his father, stepmother and little brother, according to the family's lawyer. Martin was shot after returning home from a local convenience store, where he bought snacks including Skittles candy requested by his 13-year-old brother, Chad.
According to the family's lawyer Ben Crump, the family is calling for the Watch captain's arrest, saying Martin was "on his way home and a Neighborhood Watch loose cannon shot and killed him"...". Was the teen singled out and shot because he was black in a white neighborhood? Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss if race was involved on The Young Turks.

(8,726 posts)but this story has stood out in my mind more than others. The facts in the story disturb me greatly. The glare of shameless injustice and racism is blinding. I read through every story I can find on this subject. Trayvon Martin was gunned down in cold blood for WWB and Zimmerman walks around a free and appears likely to get away with his crime. If the stories quoting the local police chief didn't denote that the comments had come from him, you would have thought it was Zimmerman's own lawyer. He makes excuses like "Zimmerman is a good person with no record" and "he went to college for criminal justice" and "he was confronted by the suspect" and so on. First, how did Trayvon Martin "confront" him when Zimmerman was in his car and Trayvon was walking down the sidewalk? Why is Trayvon referenced as the "suspect", while Zimmerman is only referenced as the "neighborhood watch captain"?
Trayvon was unarmed, lived in the neighborhood, was walking on the sidewalk and was doing nothing wrong. This is murder plan and simple!

(28,498 posts)I would think the fact that this kid was walking inside a gated community should have erased any doubt about his validity. I mean, if youre in a gated community, then you're supposed to be there.
Mr. "Shoot first and ask questions later" apparently must have thought his "gated community" could be compromised. But just how believable is that?
What's next for the "George Zimmermans" of the world? Gated gated communities?
