"Completely and Utterly Fail in an Earthquake"

by Greg Palast
for FreePress.org

Here was the handwritten log kept by a senior engineer at the nuclear power plant:

Wiesel was very upset. He seemed very nervous. Very agitated. . . . In fact, the plant was riddled with problems that, no way on earth, could stand an earth- quake. The team of engineers sent in to inspect found that most of these components could "completely and utterly fail" during an earthquake.

"Utterly fail during an earthquake." And here in Japan was the quake and here is the utter failure.

The warning was in what the investigations team called The Notebook, which I'm not supposed to have. Good thing I've kept a copy anyway, because the file cabinets went down with my office building ....

There were also some children from Japan at an anti-nuclear rally on the east coast.. On one of these threads. I hope people will listen and think twice about letting the corporations get away with what they've been doing...

Most of us have descendents that will affected by this 'anything to make a profit system.' Some things are just too precious to be handled for money.

2. Is that an excerpt from Vultures' Picnic or has Greg Palast written a new book?

How could Washington be so foolish? Today I read and was reminded that 1-5 children receive food stamps, and that is not enough to close the gap of the hunger they feel towards the end of the month... Washington is in a bubble of extremists who live high off the hog at the expense of our children's basic nutrition...
